Who we are and what we do...

Welcome to the Letchworth Family Support Team website.

The Letchworth Family Support Team are here to provide early help to local families who may be experiencing challenges, where a pro-active and holistic level of support is needed. The team works in close partnership with all Letchworth schools, both at a strategic level and with individual families.

The Letchworth family support workers have a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience which ensure that Letchworth families are supported by a worker with a high level of expertise appropriate to their specific needs. We deliver interventions with families, children and young people in the home, school and other venues as appropriate. Although a family may get referred to us with one primary need, such as a child’s behaviour or attendance, we usually find that families have complex needs and this requires a range of support and interventions. Among the support needs we often work with are: parental mental health issues, domestic violence, relationship difficulties, substance misuse, ASD/ADHD, lack of knowledge and confidence in parenting.

We also work closely with many other agencies to ensure that families get the right advice and specialist support. The agencies include: CAB, CAMHS, Angels, Family Centres, housing agencies, Impakt and CDC. We have developed excellent relationships with these and other local agencies and are well respected by them. This enables us to advocate for and support our families' engagement with them in an effective way.

Please take a look through the pages on our website for early signposting whether you are a family member needing further support or a professional looking to make a referral to the Letchworth Family Support Team.

Te Simms

Service Manager

'We are immensely grateful for all the service provides for families in our school when it is needed'. - Letchworth school

Further feedback from S family was how grateful she was that I linked her in with Angels service and brought Caroline on a home visit. When i closed the case she thanked me for spending time with X and genuinely caring about her and her needs. She said that although the support had been short she felt listened to.

'Thank you Te and all your team. Our families and pupils have greatly benefitted from your unwavering support'. .- Letchworth School
